Also, their typical burger is piled with meat, bacon, tomato, pineapple, egg, beetroot, and lettuce. Due to massive traditional food, the meat pie tops the charts, with its flaky crust to please the crowd. These little hand held pies are a main staple in the land.
Australia Meat Pie Recipe
4 sheets frozen pastry thawed, 1 egg beaten, 2 tablespoons olive oil, 1 onion, chopped fine, 1 1/2 pounds ground beef, 2 tablespoons flour, 1/3 cup tomato sauce, 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, 1 1/4 cups beef stock, 2 tablespoons parsley – chopped, salt and pepper
Saute the onions in the olive oil, add the ground beef until all is browned. Sprinkle in flour and cook another minute. Add the tomato sauce, beef stock, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes. Add parsley and season with salt and pepper. And then remove from heat and allow to cool.
Pies
Preheat oven to 390 degrees, then grease the muffin pans. And then cut out circles (large enough to cover tins) of the pastry, place in tins. Spoon meat mixture over pastry, cut out circles of puff pastry (large enough to crimp edges, place over meat mixture. Crimp the edges of the two pastries together. Make a small cross in the center of each pie and brush with the beaten egg. Bake the pies for 10 minutes. Reduce the oven temperature to 350 degrees and continue to bake 20 minutes until golden brown.
